2,000 people to make tale painting a record

A total of 2,000 people are expected to join in drawing the “Tale of carp turning into dragon” painting at the Tet Viet 2010 Fair slated for the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi on Feb. 5.

The 7m high and 3m wide painting drawing the record number of participants will feature carps in various colours and different dance positions leaping and crossing over Vu Mon (Rain Gate) to transform into dragons.

The only carp that turned into a dragon, a symbol of 1,000 years of Thang Long-Hanoi, will be placed at the top of the painting.

The drawing of the painting will be organised by the Thang Long Technology and Trade - Investment Joint Stock Company to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

The three-day fair is expected to draw 45,000 visitors.

The tale of carp turning into dragon is an interesting story about animals. One year, it was drought and there were not enough dragons to make rains. Dragon King decided to hold a contest and invite all animals to participate in crossing over Vu Mon (Rain-Gate). If any animal is successful for three times, it will be turned into a dragon.

All the animals were excited by this news but only carp trained harder than others.

In the day for the contest, all the animals failed but only carp passed thanks to its hard work./.
